After years of speculation and development behind closed doors, Apple is expected to launch its first foldable iPhone in 2026, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Apple has reportedly finalized the design of the foldable device, with Samsung Display set to supply the OLED screens. Samsung, known for its leadership in foldable technology, has been manufacturing bendable displays for over seven years.
The upcoming foldable iPhone will reportedly adopt a book-style design, resembling the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. The outer screen will measure approximately 5.5 inches, while the inner foldable display is expected to span 7.8 inches. The external panel will support one-handed use, and the internal screen will allow for a larger, immersive viewing experience.
Apple is said to be highlighting long-term durability and seamless usability. Reports indicate that the display will feature a nearly invisible crease when unfolded and include a reinforced hinge. The company has reportedly taken additional time for quality testing to ensure the device meets higher durability standards than existing foldable phones.
The new device will run on iOS 27, which is expected to launch alongside the foldable iPhone. Apple aims to make all existing iPhone apps fully compatible with the flexible interface, maintaining consistent functionality across display modes.
The price of the foldable iPhone in the United States is expected to be around $2,000, or approximately Rs 1.72 lakh in India.
